About the Founder

Hi, I'm Ruchi Aggarwal

I’ve had a wonderful journey from McKinsey & IIM Ahmedabad to mentoring 3,000+ worldwide. Over the last five years, I’ve helped over three thousand candidates secure admits to top MBAs like Harvard, INSEAD and IIM A, land roles at McKinsey, BCG and Bain, and unlock more than $3.5 million in scholarships.

This is the story of me — and how I built this venture.

Hi, I’m Ruchi

A consultant by training. A mentor by calling.

Mentorship changed the trajectory of my own life. Now I do that everyday — for three thousand others.

My career started long before McKinsey. At 15, I scored an All-India Rank of 9 in ICSE. In my college years, I cleared CA Foundation with an All-India Rank of 8 and graduated with a Gold Medal in B.Com — a perfect 7/7 GPA at Narsee Monjee. Then came IIM Ahmedabad, where a 99.99 percentile in CAT got me through the door, and where I finished in the top 10% of my graduating class with offer from McKinsey & Co. Along the way, I build core skills in business, entrepreneurship, strategy and structured thinking. I also became a campus-favourite senior – My dorm room was always full of friends and juniors looking for resume advice, case prep partnership or just some general gyaan.

I joined McKinsey & Company as a Management Consultant — one of ten students selected from a cohort of 400+ for the firm’s coveted summer programme, with a Pre-Placement Offer in hand by the end of it. Across the years, I advised global clients in banking, technology and private equity, launching one of the highest-downloaded banking apps in the world for a Fortune Global 500 bank, leading a ₹10Bn cost optimisation programme for a top global pharma player, and several high-profile private equity investments across the world. I also co-authored the McKinsey Global Institute’s flagship report India’s Turning Point alongside economists and business leaders including Amitabh Kant, Uday Kotak and KV Kamath. And along the way, I got involved the McKinsey campus recruitment process across multiple campuses, preparing shortlists, supporting candidates and hosting campus dinners.

Across this professional journey, I built my core entrepreneurial skillset for my next chapter, and uncovered a core passion for mentorship that became the backbone of my venture.

Why I Started Mentoresult

Talent is not enough. The best opportunities go to the most prepared candidates.

My journey seems smooth sailing, but involved a lot of confusion, anxiety and near-misses. As I spoke to my friends, juniors and peers, I learnt that almost everyone at a top institute has a mentor that helped them get there. It’s impossible to climb this career mountain alone – You need someone to show you the ropes, someone to warn you from the risky falls and someone to make you the best version of yourself.

Strategy is a skill. Self-belief is a skill. Cracking interviews, building a narrative, networking – All skills. And like any skill, they can be taught, refined, and rehearsed. Most of the candidates I meet are already smart enough to get in. They just hadn’t yet been shown how to get in. That gap — between capable and admitted, between qualified and offered — is the entire reason Mentoresult exists.

What I Believe

Four convictions that shape everything I do.

✓

If you are more fortunate than others, build a longer table, not a taller fence: Mentorship is the natural ethical path if you’ve found success

✓

The same water that softens the potato hardens the egg: Mentorship needs to be customised to each person’s needs

✓

The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war: Preparation is the key to success, and you can’t win publicly without being ready to grind in private

✓

One of the bravest things you can do is ask for help: Those who ask for help are smart, strategic and going to win

Talent alone is not enough. The right strategy, positioning, communication and mentorship can change everything. That belief became Mentoresult.

The Results

Bringing impact across thousands of careers.

Numbers can only tell part of a story — but they tell an important part. Across five years of working one-on-one with candidates from twenty-five-plus countries, here’s what Mentoresult has helped people achieve. Behind every figure is a real applicant, a real essay rewrite, a real 11pm interview rehearsal.

"Ruchi knows what she's doing, and I'm glad I trusted her"

Ruchi prepped me for 13 schools, out of which I got into 10. She knows what she's doing, and I'm glad I trusted her.

I'd contacted Ruchi because I had immediate deadlines for several schools, and she came through. Ruchi told me exactly what to drill down on based on the requirements of particular schools. Her biggest contribution was solidifying my "why MBA" answer to make it more punchy and relatable. She also explained ways of making my roles and responsibilities at work sound more impactful and came up with certain quantifiable metrics that I could throw in. She gave me a third-person's perspective, which helped me understand how to make my interviews more conversational and less rigid. She even very respectfully told me what was bad about or missing from my answers, and immediately gave me quick-fixes.
Ruchi did all of this while remaining infinitely calm, measured, sweet, empathetic – and quick on her feet. She is an incredible resource to have. She's had a wide experience across schools in different continents, and it shows.
I only applied in R2, and was admitted into Booth with a 50% scholarship. Additionally, I also received offers from Columbia, Kellogg, Darden (50% scholarship, invite to interview for Oculus fellowship), Tepper (60% scholarship), Anderson (50% scholarship), Foster (50% scholarship), Tuck (15K annually), NUS and INSEAD.
Ruchi and I are still in touch, and she even helped edit my resume and sharpen my narrative for consulting recruiting at Booth, which led to two offers at BCG and Bain!

“Clean sweep across IIM A, IIM B, IIM C, IIM L, IIM K & FMS”

I received admits from all the top MBA programs in the country and a big credit for that goes to Ruchi. Her invaluable insights into the process drastically improved my confidence and helped me ace all my interviews. Ruchi also helped me select my ideal B-school amongst all the offers and helped me find a good fit.

“From a long mentee - She truly the most patient mentor”

With the help of Ruchi, I received an offer at McKinsey & company. Right from our first session, I found that the advice and mentorship is customised to my capabilities and goals. After a long mentor- mentee relationship with Ruchi, my takeaways are that she is truly the most patient mentor you can find. It's very important for someone who is starting a journey where you face high stake dilemmas in a pressurised environment to have a mentor like her. I would recommend anyone who is feeling confused or unsure about their journey to reach out to her without any second thoughts.

Additionally, anyone trying learn case solving methodologies, cases with her because it will really help you clear top consulting interviews and her experience would be highly valuable!

“Expecto Patronum moment!”

One of my favourite quotes from HP is - Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. But the reassuring part is that even outside Hogwarts, there are gems like Ruchi to show us light when we are stuck in darkness. When I was stuck in chamber of disappoint after multiple job rejections, Ruchi swooped in like Fawkes. The insights and suggestions from her along with her endearing personality was a game changer in my journey to find a new workspace. Even if you have CV ready with you, if you are eyeing big brands, I would recommend a session with Ruchi who can breathe some magic into it. Thank you Ruchi for my Expecto Patronum moment!
